ReplyDeleteShes my Great Aunt, my G-ma still all there! (Thank god) but it's her sister that has it bad... but ya she can converse, but its nothing really.. and she knows im family just not my name!
ReplyDeleteHello All,
ReplyDeleteMy Grandmother has Alzheimer and it is an adjustment. She has her good days. Sometimes she is on and talking and other days there is nothing. I can tell she is still in there. I love her.
Alzheimer’s disease is the most common form of dementia, a serious brain disorder that impacts daily living through memory loss and cognitive changes.
I love the pic of Aunt Bett. She looks so sweet!
First off thank you! she is the sweetest thing ever, most days! haha.
ReplyDeleteYa that's the thing about it, lots of adjustments, and ups and downs. Sometimes her mood can change in the snap of a finger! But mostly she is very kind and loving, to anyone!
Sometimes she wants to marry me, but I just tell her i'm to young for her! Its the worst when she straps her arm to a random guy and says will you be my husband, haha that's happened a few times at the store!
But ya, do you see your G-ma everyday? Do you live with her, or do you just visit? && Whats your opinion about nursing homes?
My Grandma lives at a board and care home. It is an actual house with 5 other people like her and 3 people (staff) that live there 24/7 that take care of her. I think it is really good for her. It is comfortable and the closest thing to my grandma being in her own home. I try to see her once a week. I have mixed opinions about Nursing homes, but I think Assisted Living homes are a little better. They receive more attention and have more interaction with others at an assisted living home. They are all their meals and activities: crafts, singing, games, etc. together. Or they can opt to stay in their room. It is better than a Nursing home that feels like a hospital.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a nice place! are there a lot of these places around? They defiantly receive more attention if it is 5 patients to 3 nurses.. at a nursing home its like 10/1 - which leads to many things. I would agree its a lot better and probably a reasonable price too!
ReplyDeleteThats cool they have options too, nothing forced on them.. and thats good you visit her, she must love that :)
Awesome picture, it makes me smile. I am amazed by you Trev, you are so strong and loving. Good job kid.
ReplyDeleteluv the pic of Aunt Betts! I miss her, I think the best part about this crazy disease, is she has a new adventure every day! That's what I loved when we went on our daily walks, same path, every day...yet every day she would ask where are we going, finally I got smart and would tell her a different country or wild safari haaha she actually started looking forward to our vacations...had to quit telling her the Swiss alps in the middle of summer she always wanted to take heavy jacket..lol..it is hard work your doing a FANTASTIC job... I am proud of You! :)
